Health And Social Care

This qualification is nationally recognised and is based on the Health and Social Care National Occupational Standards (NOS).The qualification aim to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the Health and Social Care. There are level one to three of the qualification

 

• Level 1 Health and Social Care

This qualification will be suitable for those intending to work and develop their profession as:-

• healthcare assistants / support workers in community and primary care / acute health environments

To gain the qualification learners will need to achieve a minimum of 15 credits with     8 credit from mandatory units and 7 credits from optional units

Unit Title

1. Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
2. The role of the health and social care worker
3. Implement health and safety in health and social care
4. Use of communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
5. Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
6. Equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
7. Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
8. Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
9. Understand mental health problems
10. Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia
11. Introduction to personalisation in social care
12. The principles of infection prevention and control
13. Understand Causes and spread of infection
14. Cleaning, decontamination and waste management

 

• Level 2 Health and Social Care

This qualification will be suitable for those working or intending to work and develop their profession as:-

• Healthcare assistants / support workers in community and primary care / acute health environments

To gain the qualification learners will need to achieve a minimum 30 credits with 20 credit from mandatory (compulsory) units and 10 credits from optional (elective) units

3. Understand person-centered approaches in health and social care
4. Implement health and safety in health and social care
5. Information handling in health and social care settings
6. Use of communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
7. Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
8. Equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
9. Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
10. Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
11. Purpose and principles of independent advocacy
12. Understand mental wellbeing and mental health promotion
13. Understand mental health problems
14. Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach
15. Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia
16. Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion
17. Introduction to personalisation in social care
18. The principles of infection prevention and control
19. Understand Causes and spread of infection
20. Cleaning, decontamination and waste management

 

• Level 3 Health and Social Care

This qualification will be suitable for those working / practicing in health and care sector with interest to work and develop their profession at supervisory or senior carer’s level.

 

To achieve Level 3 Health and Social Care, learners will need to gain 60 credits.

35 credit from mandatory units and 25 credits from optional units

26. Understand how to support individuals with autistic spectrum Conditions
